Annan Ambulance Station upgraded to full 24/7 cover

Release Date :  Wednesday 6 May 2009

The Scottish Ambulance Service has upgraded Annan Ambulance Station so that there will now be full time round the clock cover from the station for the local community.

The development will ensure that the station is now staffed at night between midnight and 8am, when previously staff responded from home under ‘on call’ arrangements.

Daren Mochrie, General Manager, Scottish Ambulance Service, South West Division, said:

“We are investing in an upgrade for Annan station after a successful trial in March which achieved an improvement in response times for the most serious life threatening calls. During the trial the average response time for those calls was 6.7 minutes, compared to a previous average of 8.4 minutes.”

“The upgrade will deliver a higher standard of ambulance care for patients in the area and eliminate the need for our staff in Annan to work on an ‘on call system."
