The Education and Professional Development Department provides education and training opportunities for staff across Scotland. A core function of the department is the delivery of the Paramedic Practice Programme approved by the Health Professions Council.
The department develops over 200 staff each year through the HPC programme and ensures that staff are provided with opportunities to meet compliance with both statutory training and professional development.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated paramedics to join the Paramedic Practice Programme Team in the role of Practice Placement Educator (PPed).
This role is integral to the delivery of the Paramedic Practice Programme throughout Scotland. PPEd’s will be involved in a range if activities including the monitoring, assessment and evaluation of practice placement opportunities across ambulance, primary and secondary care environments. The role of the PPEd is central to supporting staff in achieving professional registration. Applicants must be State Registered Paramedics who are able to clearly demonstrate professional development, credibility and experience of supporting staff within the clinical arena. Experience of study at SCQF level 9 would be advantageous as would an assessment/educational qualification although not essential. The successful applicant will be required to undertake a level 10 qualification in practice placement education and a full range of professional development courses including ALS, PHPLS, ITLS, SCOTTIE
Candidates must have clear evidence of continuing professional development, excellent clinical skills and a commitment to the delivery of high quality, patient focussed education.
Successful candidates will work across a geographical region (North, East, West) and across both Health Board and Divisional boundaries. Communication, influencing and negotiating skills are therefore essential as is the commitment to work flexible hours and undertake travel throughout Scotland.
